You’re familiar with this scenario: you hear a sharp shatter as a glass of wine tumbles to the floor. The spill splashes everywhere- the carpet, the couch, your clothes… You freeze like a deer in headlights, unsure of where to begin.

Don’t panic! Here’s a quick guide on spot treating carpet stains that will help you avoid common mistakes:

First, remove as much of the spill as possible.

A solid spill can be scraped with a spoon, or butter knife. Next, blot away any excess liquid with a clean white absorbent cloth or paper towel. Work from the outside edge of the stain in, dabbing carefully—and don’t scrub. Scrubbing will only work the stain deeper into the carpet fibers, which makes your job harder. Continue dabbing with several cloths or paper towels until they no longer pick up any color.

We repeat: blot, don’t scrub.

Next, apply a store-bought or homemade cleaner.

The cleaning solution you use will depend on the substance involved in the spill. Pet urine, for example, requires an enzymatic cleaner (this solution can be found in pet stores). It’s a great idea to reserve a bottle for emergency situations; keep it stowed away in your pantry, or kitchen cabinet. You can easily concoct an all-purpose solution by combining 1 tsp. dish soap, ¼ tsp. white vinegar, and 4 cups warm water. Pour this solution in a spray bottle, and you’ll be all set.

Blot again, then dry.

Repeat the first step: blot with a clean white absorbent cloth until all of the stain has been removed and is no longer bleeding onto your cloth. Rinse the area by blotting (one last time!) with cold water, careful not to over-wet the area. Lastly, lay a folded towel over the area, and set a heavy dish on top to help absorb the stain (casserole dish, baking pan, etc).

And remember- no stain is too tough for The Steam Team to tackle. Don’t hesitate to give us a call today- either for that stubborn carpet stain, or a professional deep-cleaning. We guarantee that you’ll be floored by our results!

Don’t worry- The Steam Team has answers. Below, we’ll discuss a few deciding factors to consider when scheduling a professional cleaning.

How Are Your Allergies?

If there’s one thing carpets are good at, it’s holding in allergens and pet dander. If you’re prone to sneezing fits, itchy eyes, and other telltale allergy symptoms, we recommend having your floors cleaned after Thanksgiving. Allergens are insufferable this time of year.

With The Steam Team’s help, you can avoid a winter of runny noses!

How Heavy is the Foot Traffic?

With frequent family gatherings, Christmas parties, and other get togethers, the holidays typically bring on an excess amount of foot traffic. Whether it’s Grandpa’s trailing pipe smoke, or your sister’s puppy who’s not-so-housetrained, once the festivities are over, your carpet will need a touch of tender loving care.

What’s on the Calendar?

Timing is different for everybody. Are you having a guest staying for a while in February? Are you considering putting your house on the market in the spring? Thinking of your future timeline can help you pick the perfect time to clean the floors what will be most worth your while.

5 Secrets to Cleaning Around the Home

Carpet Cleaning In Round Rock, Texas

Carpet Cleaning In Round Rock, Texas

It’s cleaning day! Time to break out the supplies: a vacuum cleaner, your trusty cleaning solution, and these five tips on eliminating grim around the house:

For Dust, Dirt, & Dander

There’s simply no way to avoid it. When it comes to keeping our floors clean (or at least, presentable) we must establish a regular vacuuming routine! Of course, how frequently you need to vacuum will depend on the level of foot traffic in your home. On average, you should be vacuuming at least once a week- it’ll make the chore much easier in the long run!

We suggest vacuuming for its convenience: it’s easier on the body, will save time and energy, etc. If you do not own a vacuum cleaner suitable for tile and hardwood, a broom or floor duster will suffice.

For that Stubborn Soap Scum

Removing soap scum requires an intense amount of pressure- a pressure easily achieved by a steam cleaner. If the soap scum in your bathroom has hardened, we recommend saving yourself time and frustration by either renting a steam cleaning machine, or giving a professional a call!

For Spills & Stains

Keeping spills and stains off upholstered furniture is no easy task!

It’s all about quick reflexes! Not really- just be sure to tend to spills and accidents as quickly as you can. This will help prevent permanent staining.

For Gruesome, Grimy Grout

Grout: the sole reason you procrastinate cleaning the bathroom. Grout is porous in nature, and absorbs grime very quickly. Cleaning grout is a tiring process, and oftentimes we struggle to achieve the results we desire. If your regular mopping and scrubbing isn’t cutting it consider hiring a professional.

For Anything & Everything Else

For everything else… Call in The Steam Team! If we haven’t said it already- steam cleaning is one of the most efficient, most effective methods of cleaning. Whether we’re deep-cleaning your kitchen after the holidays, or replacing that grimy grout, you’ll be amazed at The Steam Team’s results!

Carpet Cleaning in Round Rock Texas

Carpet Cleaning in Round Rock, Texas

Carpet Cleaning in Round Rock, Texas

There are two types of people when it comes to cleaning. The first type either puts it off as long as possible, and then does a surface clean before people come over, or they make sure their home is always spotless. While most of us would like to be members of group number two, let’s face it – we’re just not.

So when company comes over we panic for a good five minutes before starting the hurried process of shoving papers in drawers, haphazardly running the vacuum, and spaying way too much air freshener. Instead of that hassle, here are a few tricks to avoid the panic and enjoy taking people into your home.

If You Have Time, Get The Pros

The first trick to impressing your guests and having a clean house is to actually have a clean house. Get your floors and upholstery deep cleaned twice a year and don’t forget your grout, tile, and stone! Keeping up with routine maintenance will make quick cleans a breeze.

Get Rid Of Clutter, But Be Organized

If you need to get rid of clutter and get rid of it fast, don’t just shove things in drawers and hope for the best. Take an extra 10 minutes to be smart about it. Put things in the rooms where they belong, keep like products together, and throw away anything you don’t need.

Don’t Waste Time On The Non-Essentials

If you’re in a rush, this isn’t the time to make sure all the dust is gone from the top of the fan or start a new, in-depth project. Make sure the floors are clean and free of toys, trash, and random items, wipe down the counters, and clean up the bathroom. This will help your place look sparkling even when you don’t have time for a full clean.

Relax

Finally, make sure to relax and enjoy your guests. They’re visiting to see you, not just your home. Clean up, stay up with your home maintenance, and remember to enjoy yourself– even if you didn’t get those carpet stains removed!

Rug Cleaning in Austin | Can You Protect Your Rug from Stains?

Rug Cleaning In Austin, TX

Rug Cleaning In Austin, TX

Carpet, unlike tile, hardwood, or laminate flooring, is more susceptible to staining. This is even more true if your household has children or pets! So you may be wondering if there’s anything you can do to further protect your flooring; how do you know if you should take the extra step?

Below, we’ve listed a few things to keep in mind:

Know When to Apply a Carpet Protector

Brand-new carpets come with a protector already applied to the fibers, so there shouldn’t be any need for an additional protector until the carpet has taken on more wear and tear (at least a few years).

If your carpet is no longer new, you may want to consider applying carpet protector. You can hire a company to apply it for you, or take the DIY approach (if you do, be sure to avoid water-based protectors, such as Scotchguard, on polyester fibers, which are made of plastic-based synthetic polymers).

Keep Up With the Warranty

Before applying any product to your carpet, take a glance at its warranty. There’s an unfortunate chance that you may unintentionally void its protection; it’s always best to be safe than sorry!

Some types of carpet might not even need additional protection. Check with the carpet’s manufacturer for details.

Soften the Impact of Foot Traffic

Here’s an easy one! Develop the habit of removing your shoes at the front door. They can be stored by the entry way, or in a mudroom. Have slippers available to change into. If such an arrangement isn’t efficient for you, try placing a mat by entryways! This will help to keep a considerable amount of dirt from landing on your carpet!

And above all- don’t forget! The Steam Team is always standing by with the right professional equipment (and expertise!) needed to transform your carpet back into its original state. For all cleaning in Round Rock call The Steam Team today!

Cleaning seems simple enough, right? You choose a disinfectant, you find an old rag, and scrub your counter tops until they look less dingy. Maybe you grab the vacuum, or sludge the mop around the kitchen a bit, and then call it a day.

While there are a lot of right ways to clean, there are also a lot of wrong ways to do it. Because yes, just because you brought out the duster, it doesn’t mean your house is actually clean. Area rug cleaning in Austin, Tx.

You’re Using Dangerous Chemicals

It might seem that in order to get a deep, long lasting clean, you need to use harsh chemicals and strong cleaning supplies. While it's understandable why someone might think that using bleach or dumping other toxins in their house will help get rid of stains, not only is it unsafe for your family, it’s also unsafe for your home.

Fortunately, The Steam Team doesn’t use any harsh chemicals throughout our cleaning services. It’s all in the high-pressure steam! Well, and a team of well-trained professionals, of course.

You Just Clean The Surface

There are two ways to clean your house: deep cleaning, or surface cleaning. Too often, we clean in a frenzy moments before company arrives, and we barely scratch the surface. When cleaning, we promote a healthier environment. We can do this by ridding our homes of dust and dander, and removing old stains and odors. If you only clean the surface, your home might look beautiful on the outside, but the inside will remain dirty and unhealthy. And after all that work, is it really worth it?

You Keep Putting It Off

Finally, the worst way to clean your house is to not do it at all!

Sure, it seems like it’s not that big of a deal. What does it matter if you have a few stains or dust bunnies? But other than just appearance, not having a clean home can greatly impact its resale value, your quality of life, and the longevity of your carpet and furniture.

So if you can’t stand cleaning, or know it’s long past time to get your floor deep cleaned, check out The Steam Team’s services, and let us help you have the clean home of your dreams!

Bonus Tip: No cleaning detergents or solutions = money well saved!

How to stain and clean concrete?

Local Cleaning Company

Local Cleaning Company

As homeowners discover its benefits, concrete flooring is growing increasingly more popular! Indoor concrete flooring is unique, durable, and easy to modify and/or enhance. So, instead of remodeling an entire room (rearranging or purchasing new furniture, area rugs, paintings, etc) we can change the look of a concrete area by applying a stain- this is easy, inexpensive, and can be done for you by a team of professionals!

Step 1: Preparation

First, let’s begin by thoroughly cleaning the floor that is to be stained! Use a vacuum or broom to remove excess dirt and residue. Carefully tape off sections that shouldn’t be stained. Be as precise as is possible, as once the stain dries, it may be difficult to remove.

Step 2: Perform a Pre-Test

As you would with a new household cleaner, test an inconspicuous area of the flooring to get an idea of how the stain will look. Keep in mind that if you’re not pleased with the shade, you can always dilute the concrete stain, or otherwise adjust it accordingly (just pay close attention to the manufacturer’s instructions)!

Step 3: Apply the Stain

If you are doing this step by yourself, ensure that you’re using an adequate sprayer, and be careful not to overspray (if puddles are forming you’ll know to cut back). A shop broom can be used to even out the area. Again, for more precise results, call a professional!

Step 4: Apply a Sealant

After the stain has had plenty of time to dry, apply a protective layer of concrete sealant. This simple step does wonders to protect the color of your stain, and keeps your concrete flooring looking marvelous!

If you’re itching for an upgrade in your home, or if your concrete patio is losing its luster, improve your view by calling in the professionals for a concrete staining! Yes, it’s true that you could venture down the DIY path, but this method is more risky; a team of experienced professionals will have the perfect tools, knowledge, and experience to finish the job without mistakes!

Don't Neglect Cleaning These 3 Areas- Horseshoe Bay Carpet Cleaning

Carpet Cleaning in Horseshoe Bay and Marble Falls, Texas

Carpet Cleaning in Horseshoe Bay and Marble Falls, Texas

When it comes to keeping your house clean, it feels like a never-ending task. Just when you mop up the mud that the dog brought in, someone spills punch all over the carpet. Once that’s clean you notice the new stains on the couch thanks to the dinner party you had last night. For carpet cleaning in Horseshoe Bay call the Steam Team Cleaning Company.

While it can seem impossible to have a sparkling house, at Steam Team we make the impossible, possible. So when you’re going through your cleaning checklist, our experts want to remind you to never forget these three important areas so that you can have the clean home of your dreams.

Furniture:

Sure, you might think that a quick once over with the vacuum can clean your couch just fine. And while it does get rid of the crumbs and hair wedged between the cushions, it doesn’t “clean” the surface. Our professionals know how to get rid of stains and make upholstery bright once again.

Stone Floors:

Stone floors are one of the most overlooked floors we have. They not only hide dirt well, but when they’re in areas with a lot of foot traffic and possibly weather, it can seem silly to spend time cleaning the surface. Unfortunately stone can hold lots of grime and germs, and after lots of wear its luster can dull. Luckily we know how to not only get your stone clean and sparkling, but we can help it look like new again!

Grout:

When it comes to grout, a lot of us only remember it exists when we realize how gross it is. And by then? It’ll take more than just some half-hearted scrubbing to make it clean. Steam Team has not only studied the best ways to clean grout, but we know how to turn it from a point of embarrassment to a point of pride.

So the next time you need a thorough clean, remember to check out these commonly overlooked areas, and be sure to let us know how we can best help you have the happiest, cleanest home possible!

3 Tips to Avoid Flooring Damage

Screen Shot 2016-12-08 at 7.40.58 AM.png

Wear and tear on flooring is inevitable, particularly in high-traffic areas. But by being aware of these 3 tips, you can hopefully avoid the most obvious causes of damage and get more life out of your flooring surface before having to consider refinishing or replacing.

  • Scratches can occur from debris that gets tracked in from the outside. Keep your home clean on the inside and the outside—sweep your front and back stoop, and set out mats or throw rugs near frequent points of entry, such as the front door, garage door, and patio. Consider placing area rugs elsewhere in the home, such as in the living room and bedrooms, where they can do double duty as a nice accent piece. Sweep daily, and vacuum and mop weekly.

  • Wear “house shoes.” As is the custom in many countries around the world, remove your street shoes when you get home and put on dedicated “house shoes” instead. This can be a fuzzy pair of slippers, or a pair of comfortable tennis shoes or sandals that you only wear indoors. This will prevent your tracking dirt and grime from outside, and cleaner floors have less of a chance of sustaining damage. Avoid ever wearing high heels or cleats, which by not evenly distributing weight pose a serious risk to your flooring. And be sure to keep your pet's’ nails trim, too—but let the vet or groomer do it, since the wrong technique can harm your pet.

  • Protect your flooring from furniture. Place a rug or pads under items that are used frequently, such as dining room chairs or rolling office chairs. Be careful when moving furniture, so you don’t accidentally scratch the floor, particularly when moving heavier pieces, including appliances.  The Steam Team is the number one cleaning company in Austin.

Prepping Your Home Before Painting And Cleaning

Cleaning Austin, TX

Cleaning Austin, TX

Painting looks easy, but anyone who has thought they’d paint their bedroom a new color over the weekend knows that it’s actually way more time-consuming. Whether you’re paying someone to do the job, or attempting a DIY project yourself, there are a few things to keep in mind before you begin painting and cleaning your home interior.

  • Remove furniture. Don’t just nudge the sofa over a couple of feet and think you’ll squeeze behind it to reach the wall. If you have the space, relocate furniture to another room. Otherwise group it in the center of the room, and cover it with a plastic sheet for extra protection against spatters or spills. If you’re hiring a painting company, plan beforehand where you want to tell them to move each piece.

  • Protect your flooring with plastic sheeting or a drop cloth. Plastic sheeting is cheaper, but if you go that route, watch out for tears, and be careful that you don’t accidentally slip on it. Professional painters will likely use a heavy canvas drop cloth.

  • Clear—and clean—wall surfaces. Remove any wall hangings, outlet covers, and switch plates. Clean the wall with a damp cloth and a mild cleaner to remove any smudges or debris, and allow time to dry. Don’t forget about dusty corners!

  • Tape around moldings, baseboards, and windowsills with professional painter’s tape. This part is probably just as time-consuming—if not more—than the actual painting. You want to do it right, because it will save you a lot of heartache later. Nothing screams amateur more than accidental smears of paint on unintended surfaces.

  • Make sure you’ve gathered all the right supplies. Check online or with your local hardware store for a list of everything you need before you get started, to minimize last-minute store runs.

Pet-Proofing Your Carpet and Area Rugs

Fire Damage Austin

Fire Damage Austin

Carpet looks beautiful in our homes- most of the time. When our beloved pets “mark their territory,” in the wrong place, spill liquids onto the floor, and generally run a muck in our living rooms… our carpet shows it. It’s not as easy to keep carpet looking clean and brand new when there are pets around, but it’s not impossible, either!

When you live with pets, certain stains will occur more frequently than others. So gear up, and get ready to battle stains like dirt, mud, and yes… even pet urine.

Carpet Cleaning & Stain Removal Tips

Mud stains can be removed from carpet fairly easily. Simply clean up all excess clumps of dirt, and layer the stained area with either baking soda, or salt. This will absorb any remaining moisture from the stain. After a few hours, vacuum the excess salt, and use a damp, soapy cloth to blot the remainder of the stain.

If you’re battling a urine stain, we recommend starting by absorbing all of the excess moisture from the area. You can use a shop vacuum if you own one, or alternatively, clean paper towels or washcloths.

Once the area is dry, begin with a solution of white vinegar and warm water (50/50). Mix enough of this solution to reach deep into your carpet. With a scrub brush, vigorously scrub the mixture into the stain.

Other remedies include a mixture of dish detergent and hydrogen peroxide. Apply this solution to your carpet just as you did with the vinegar, and scrub forcefully until the stain has been removed.

Finally, if the stain is persistent, it may be time to call in a professional steam cleaning company. For professional results that will leave you shocked, and your carpet spotless, call The Steam Team today! The Steam Team has several years of experience in cleaning and caring for many different types of flooring, including carpet, tile, grout, hardwood, natural stone, and more!

The 3 Easiest Ways to Clean Upholstered Furniture

Rug Cleaning Austin

Rug Cleaning Austin

Life is busy and unpredictable, and keeping your upholstered furniture spotless is probably not at the top of your priority list. Before you donate your cat’s favorite armchair or discover a wayward chip in the sofa cushions, consider these tips that make cleaning your upholstered furniture easy enough to fit in before your next Netflix marathon.

1. Vacuuming

Using the upholstery attachment, vacuum on low power. If the material has texture, such as corduroy or velvet, use left to right strokes to make sure you’re getting any dirt and dust caught in the material. Next, use the crevice attachment to vacuum under cushions and along seams. You might want to check first for any larger items, such as coins, before vacuuming. Use a can of compressed air for harder-to-reach nooks, such as button tufting. Be sure to vacuum at least once a week to best maintain the fabric. A good vacuuming might also help fade old stains!

2. Spot Cleaning

In the event of a stain, first check the furniture item’s cleaning tag. You can find this under the cushions or on the manufacturer’s website. W means it can be cleaned with water-based products, so it’s a good option for DIY. An S means use only water-free products, like a dry-cleaning solvent, but be careful, as the chemicals used in these products might be hazardous. WS or SW means that W or S may work, but run the risk of damaging the fabric (in this case, spot test in an inconspicuous area before using the product). An X means professional cleaning only. Be sure to check your warranty: a professional cleaning might be required, or you run the risk of invalidating the warranty.

If you can use water, mix it with some dishwashing soap in a bowl until frothy. With a clean, damp cloth, blot—don’t scrub—the stain. Avoid soaking it, as too much water could damage the material. In the case of leather or vinyl upholstery, wipe with Pledge (avoid products with silicone, which may cause cracking). For grease stains, try sprinkling a bit of cornstarch or baking soda on the stain and let it sit for half an hour to absorb the oil, then vacuum and spot clean.

3. Professional Steam Cleaning

This is your go-to option for antique furniture or stubborn stains, or if it’s required by the manufacturer’s warranty. Even if you’re able to DIY for most of the year, consider paying for a professional cleaning for periodic maintenance, to make sure your upholstered furniture is looking its best — and to give yourself a much deserved break!

The Steam Team is a professional cleaning and restoration service, with years of experience handling water and fire damage, disaster cleanup, mold, household odors, and much more. Keeping the Kids From Tracking Mud in the House

Cleaning Service

Cleaning Service

If you’re a homeowner and a parent, we’re willing to bet that you’re plenty familiar with the struggles of keeping your carpet clean! Children are notorious for running around, inside and outside, and consequently tracking mud, dirt, and sand all over the house. A regular vacuuming/cleaning routine will help, but frequent mud stains can be a bit of a challenge.

Carpet Wear and Tear

Foot traffic is a major culprit to causing wear and tear on your carpet. To protect our flooring, we can start by encouraging all members of the household to leave their shoes near the front door. This way, mud and dirt on shoes will not come in contact with your carpet at all!

It seems simple, but placing a welcome mat at the front and back door will also help!

Removing Pesky Mud Stains

The sooner you tackle a stain, the better you chances are at thoroughly removing it from your carpet! For mud stains, always begin by removing the excess dirt from the area with a vacuum, or even a spatula or scraper. Next, apply either baking soda, or salt, onto the area and let it settle for several hours. This will help to absorb the remaining moisture from the mud. Finally, by blotting the area with a damp, soapy cloth, you should be able to remove the remainder of the stain. Viola!

If the above method does not work, try using a mixture of dish detergent and warm water, instead of salt/baking soda.

Call in the Professionals

Sometimes, it’s best to let the professionals handle everything! If you need help removing a tough stain, or your carpet appears dull and in need of a deep cleaning, give a call to your local steam cleaning company! A professional cleaning company, like The Steam Team, will have everything your carpet needs to return to its most pristine condition!

Keeping Your Grout Stain-Free

The Tile And Grout Cleaning Professional Austin, Texas

The Tile And Grout Cleaning Professional Austin, Texas

Grout is notorious for taking the sparkle out of the newly-installed tile in our homes. Because grout is porous in nature, it easily absorbs substances such as oil, grease, dirt- you name it! This is ultimately what causes our grout to stain. Fortunately, there are still ways to restore grout to its previous, more pristine condition. With a touch of determination, and a bit of elbow grease, we can help you stay on top of grout stains and keep your floors looking fabulous!

Cleaning

Grout isn't all too difficult to clean- simply grab your best, most durable scrub brush (or discarded toothbrush), and a bottle of your favorite cleaning solution. If you don't have a cleaning solution that is safe to use on grout, you can create your own by mixing together baking soda, ammonia, and vinegar! Let this solution settle onto your grout for 2-4 minutes before scrubbing.

This is when your elbow grease becomes a hot commodity! You'll need to scrub intensely enough to lift the dirt and grime from deep within the porous grout. Scrub with all your might!

While scrubbing, you may need to stop to wipe up the dirty, soapy solution over your grout, and begin again. Remember, slow and steady wins the race! Taking your time will pay off in the end.

Sealant

The best way to protect your grout from staining is to use a grout sealant. Sealant provides an extra protective layer over your grout that helps to prevent the grout from absorbing liquids- thus keeping your floor from staining as easily.

Of course, to achieve top-notch, professional results, you'll need to call in your local steam cleaning company! Steam cleaning is a fast, effective method of cleaning and removing stains. Your grout will become completely hassle-free when you call in the professionals!

5 Reasons to Break Out the Steam Cleaner

The Steam Team Clean Company

The Steam Team Clean Company

Every day, we become more busy, and consequently, more stretched for time! It’s no wonder that steam cleaning has grown to become such a popular method of cleaning for homeowners. Listed below are five reasons as to why homeowners are choosing steam cleaning over traditional methods of cleaning!

  1. Environmentally Friendly

Steam Cleaning is entirely safe to use around your home, children, and pets. Chemicals are not necessarily required to eliminate germs and bacteria; steam cleaners will only use heat, and high water pressure.

  1. Eliminates Germs, Bacteria, Allergens & More!

If you can’t seem to shake the common cold, steam cleaning might be the answer you’ve been waiting for! Germs, dust mites, and allergens are no match for a steam cleaner; a steam cleaner’s vigorous water pressure, and intense heat eliminate these pests with no problem!

  1. Cleans Hard-To-Reach Areas With No Problem

You can finally quit avoiding your baseboards, the corners behind your living room furniture, and all of the areas in your home that seem impossible to reach, and thus clean thoroughly.

  1. Cleans More Thoroughly Than Traditional Mopping

We’d recommend wet mopping your kitchen floor the old fashioned way- but only if you’re going to have to skip the gym today. Mopping requires a decent amount of physical labor, and while this can be refreshing for our bodies, it’s not so great for our schedules! You’ll find the exact opposite case with a steam cleaner.

  1. Saves Time, Effort, and Frustration

Stop lugging around that heavy, sloshing water bucket from room to room. And aren’t you growing tired of wringing out your unwieldy, inadequate mop? A steam cleaner’s water pressure can effortlessly lift dirt and stains from your floor, whereas typically, you’d be scrubbing for a long while!

Steam cleaning is becoming increasingly more popular among homeowners, and we can understand why! It’s more efficient, thorough, and satisfying than other methods of cleaning, and there are professionals who can deep clean your home for you! Don’t hesitate to give The Steam Team a call!

The Steam Team

The Steam Team

Hardwood floors look magnificent in our homes, especially when they’re brand new, or at least freshly refinished. But we can definitely achieve comparable results with a bit of elbow grease, and a consistent cleaning routine!

Sponging Every Spill

Messes cannot be avoided altogether; they’re inevitable. But what we can do to help our hardwood flooring is clean up spills as soon as we find them! After all, whatever has tumbled onto the hardwood flooring will definitely stay there until it’s picked up- so do it now! Don’t put it off.

Destroying Dust Mites

A major disadvantage to having hardwood floors is, well, dust. It’s visible against the hardwood, everywhere, and seemingly impossible to conquer. To keep a decent handle on dust, invest in a dry dusting mop! Dust mops are incredibly easy to use, and they can easily reach underneath furniture and in between tight spaces.

Vacuuming With a Vengeance

Yes, you can vacuum hardwood floors. So if your floors or overdue for a dust mopping, but you’re short on time, just use a vacuum cleaner! Vacuuming is a major time saver. Just be sure to empty the filter frequently to avoid clogs.

Alternatively, if you don’t own a vacuum, you can use a soft bristled broom.

Last But Not Least...

A routine mopping does a hardwood floor a whole lot of good! With your choice of mop and a cleaning solution specially formulated for hardwood flooring, carefully mop over the grain of the wood. How to Get Rid of Dirty Carpets

The Steam Team Austin, Texas

Ah, carpet flooring… it’s comfortable, cozy, and cushiony. It can be made in a multitude of different colors, textures, and designs. We can match it perfectly with our furniture. Carpet adds warmth to a bedroom or living room, and provides a cushioned landing for small children at play. But proper cleaning and maintenance keeps a homeowner quite busy! Carpet can potentially stain very easily, and requires regular attention.

Routine Cleaning & Stain Prevention

Dust, dirt, and pet hair build up at a surprisingly rapid rate. This makes frequent vacuuming imperative to maintaining carpet flooring, and even lengthening its lifespan. Hopefully your vacuum cleaner has extra attachments for reaching areas like corners, baseboards, or even between couch cushions!

When it comes to areas of your home with higher traffic, you may consider asking your house members and guests to remove their shoes near the front door. The soles of our shoes can track in anything from sand, to mud, grass, or small pebbles… All of which are things we could find in our carpet at a later date!

There is much debate surrounding the “best,” method of removing stains in carpet. When using a cleaning solution, be sure that the product you’ve chosen is designed to be used on carpet, and check to find out whether or not it should be diluted.

Is it Time to Deep Clean Your Carpet?

Over time, our carpet takes enough beating to warrant an occasional deep cleaning, and this is best done by a professional steam cleaning company! Steam cleaning uses intense water pressure and high temperatures to eradicate dirt, debris, and stains from just about any type of flooring.

Companies such as The Steam Team will definitely have the perfect tools for this project:  professional grade equipment, solid expertise, and dependable customer service. Don’t hesitate to give The Steam Team a call today for efficient stain removal and carpet cleaning!

Commercial Cleaning: Keeping Your Restrooms Clean

Restrooms can sometimes be a harsh reality. In order to continuously keep commercial restrooms clean and sanitary, it’s likely that you’ll have to implement systems or bring in outside help.

Bringing in Outside Help

Deep Cleaning

One of the most common complaints with cleaning high-traffic restrooms is keeping the tile and grout clean. In some cases, this could on the floor, backsplash, or even countertops. Grout can be especially difficult to clean around moisture, but steam cleaning will undoubtedly do the trick.

Targeting Trouble Areas

Of course the tile and grout aren’t the only areas that need attention around the bathroom - especially with how damage-prone the environment already is (from the constant waterflow). Cleaning around the bathroom becomes much more efficient when you target the sinks, floors, counters, toilets, trash cans, etc.

Additionally, if you take preventive measures to keep these target areas from collecting grime, you’ll find that a deep clean can turn a sort-of clean restroom into a room that looks brand-spanking-new!

Cover Every Surface

Last, but certainly not least, don’t leave any surface behind! When you make sure to touch every surface before leaving the restroom, you’re guaranteed a spotless environment.

Now, remember when we talked about bringing in outside help? That’s really the secret to ensuring that your commercial restrooms are continuously spotless. It’s not as daunting as you may think - in fact, it’ll take a huge stress off of your shoulders!

5 Reasons to Break Out the Steam Cleaner

Austin Cleaners

Austin Cleaners

If you need mold remediation austin or any other cleaning please call us at 512-451-8326 today.
