House Cleaning

Some stains are particularly tough to tackle! If you’re an avid coffee drinker and your sofa shows it, or if your carpet has seen too many muddy footprints, we’re willing to bet that you already have a few tricks up your sleeve! You can learn a lot about stain removal by trying different products and remedies on your own, but to help speed up the process, we’re going to go over a few tips and tricks for a few of the most common household stains.

Grass Stains

To remove grass stains, try mixing a quarter teaspoon of laundry detergent with a cup of cold water. With a clean, white towel, carefully dab the stain clean.

Always be sure not to rub the stain into the carpet.

Ink Stains

Believe it or not, cheap hairspray is a great remedy for ink stains. Of course, how much hairspray you’ll need depends on the severity of your stain, so maybe keep at least two bottles on hand. All you have to do is spray the hairspray onto the ink stain, and gently blot your carpet with a white cloth.

Coffee Stains

When coffee spills, as it always does, quickly wipe up as much moisture as you can. Change each towel as it becomes dirty. Then combine 2/3 cup of water with 1/3 cup of white vinegar. Once the section is saturated, blot the stain clean with paper towels. That should help!

Red Wine

For wine, use a damp cloth to blot the stain, working from the outside in.

If the stain is still apparent after you finish blotting, try adding a generous layer of salt onto the stained carpet. The salt will help absorb the moisture leftover from the spill. Once it’s dry, remove the excess salt, and vacuum your carpet.
