The Best Ways to Keep Your Furniture Clean

How many of you wait until you can visibly see the dirt and dust covering your upholstered furniture? First of all, don’t feel bad because we’re sure you are not the only ones. However, there are several things you can do when you clean around the house to make cleaning your furniture easier!

Breaking out the Vacuum

One you get the vacuum out to do your floors, stairs, and other crevices in your house, remove the pillows from your upholstered furniture and use the wand on your vacuum to pick up any excess dust or dirt in the crevices on your furniture. You’ll be surprised at what a difference this makes! Vacuums aren’t only good for the crevices though, you can even vacuum your entire couch, loveseat, or whatever upholstered furniture you have to make sure you’re removing any (and all) grime.

Spot Treat

We’ve got a couple tricks up our sleeves when it comes to spot treating upholstered furniture. Before we give you some insight, though, make sure you’ve read and followed any and all cleaning instructions from the manufacturer of your furniture. The fabric they used may have to be treated specially so as to not wear it out or fade the color. If there aren’t any special cleaning instructions, try a small bit (really small) of shaving cream on a damp rag. Clean with water afterwards, but you may want to try this on a different place on your furniture first just to guarantee it won’t ruin the color or fabric.

Steam Cleaning

If your furniture is in need of a good over-all cleaning, call us! We can also remove those pesky stains that you just can’t seem to get out. Steam cleaning is the best way to remove dirt, dust, and other grime from your upholstered furniture.

Upholstered furniture can be difficult to keep up with and take care of, but if you follow the proper cleaning techniques and clean it regularly, you can prolong it’s lifetime by years!
