Does Your Hardwood Floor Need Refinishing?

Cleaning in Austin, Texas

Hardwood floors look beautiful in almost any home, and they’re very easy to take care of as long as they have a strong, intact finish on them. But how can you tell when your hardwood floor needs to be refinished? And how will you have it refinished? If you don’t know the answers to these questions, The Steam Team is here to help.

Signs of a Damaged Finish

There are several signs that you need to be aware of that will tell you when it’s time to have your floor refinished. When the hardwood floor no longer had the sleek shine that it once had, this likely means that the finish has worn off, and a new one will need to be applied, otherwise your floor will be open to damage. Scratches on hardwood floors are common and don’t necessarily mean that the floor needs to be refinished, but if you notice that the scratches are deep enough that they penetrate the finish and leave the hardwood floor exposed, then it's time to have your floor refinished. The last sign to look out for is discoloration, like the floor turning darker or gray in some areas, or across the whole floor. If you see any of these signs, call in The Steam Team and our technicians will begin our professional hardwood floor refinishing process.

The Refinishing Process

When you call in The Steam Team, we’ll begin by inspecting the hardwood floor to find the most damaged areas and determine the right methods for repairing and refinishing your floor.
