Austin, Texas: How To Clean Grout

Tile Cleaning Austin

How To Clean Grout

Once you’ve installed that beautiful tile in your home, the last thing you want to think about is how to keep the grout clean-right? Unfortunately, it’s inevitable that you will encounter dirt, food, and other grime in your grout. Don’t worry though, we’ve got some tips for you on how to keep that grout clean!

Prevention

The best way to ensure that your grout will stay clean for as long as possible, is to prevent stains by using a grout sealer after you’ve installed your tile. Be sure to read about the sealer though, because most of the time you want to wait one to two weeks after the grout has set to put the sealer on.

Bleach

¾ cup bleach to 1 gallon of water will create a strong bleach solution that can be used on lightly stained grout. It’s easiest if you use a toothbrush with the bleach solution on it or even just a small type of brush that can fit into the spaces where your grout is. Only use this on lightly stained grout though, and remember to not scrub too hard because you could end up damaging your grout.

Steam Cleaning

If you find stains that you cannot get out of your grout using any household cleaner or bleach, consider steam cleaning-us! We offer tile and grout steam cleaning that uses only water and heat to remove the stains from your grout making it perfectly safe for your family and home. Since grout is porous, steam cleaning really digs under the stains and lifts them from your grout.
